Should I have white fur in my HOTBIN?

I have white/grey fur (fungi) in my HOTBIN - is it OK?
The grey/white “fur” is one of the many composting fungi – it grows as the temperature starts to fall below 40°c. It will be decomposing material the bacteria have not able to eat (eg lignin). It is a sign your HOTBIN is moving below 40°c and is ready for another feed. When you top up, the fungus will die back / disappear. You can sometimes get blobs of white fungi on the lid where the vents are – again leave it, or if it bothers you – wipe off with a kitchen towel and then drop the towel into the bin so it gets composted.
